People are gradually getting used to the fact that they must take proper care of themselves to maintain good health and prevent possible diseases.
We pay enough attention to body parts, but we often miss small areas. However, their importance shouldn’t be belittled. For example, the armpit area may suggest that you have certain diseases.
We take care of our health and that is why we want to share with you a list of symptoms that can appear in the armpit area and that you should not ignore.
6. Smell
Sour smell in the armpit area is a natural occurrence. This is due to the bacteria that feel free and comfortable to grow in the sweaty areas.
However, we all know that it is very easy to combat this smell: just shower and use deodorant. But if the odor in the armpits is steady and strong, it is the first sign of possible health problems.
An unusual odor that cannot be removed even after taking a shower can be a sign of a hormonal disorder and thyroid dysfunction.
If that smell resembles the smell of “rotten fruit” or “nail polish,” then it may be a sign of ketoacidosis, the loss of the body’s ability to metabolize sugar.
5. Itching
Again, itchy armpits after shaving are normal due to new hair growth. But if the itching doesn’t stop, it’s another sign that something is wrong with your body.
Severe irritation can be caused by skin reaction to razors, clothing fabrics, and substances in creams or deodorants.
Red spots and dead cells often appear along with this itch. If this happens, your skin may have a fungus that needs to be treated by a doctor.
4. Rashes
It’s always quite warm and humid in the armpit area, creating the perfect environment for the reproduction of various fungal infections.
It is impossible to know which infection you are suffering from without consulting a specialist, so you should see a doctor if you suddenly experience itching, redness, and small skin rashes.
These skin reactions can also be caused by friction with clothing, the weather, or allergies.
3. Pain
The painful sensations that appear in the armpits are not a reason to go to the doctor immediately.
This pain can appear due to intense physical work after intensive training or after heavy lifting. In these cases, it is temporary and will go away soon.
However, if the pain sensation lasts for a long time (for example, several days), you should consult a doctor.
Although it occurs rarely, this pain can indicate the formation of tumors in the lymph nodes.
2. Seals and Lumps
The lymph nodes located in the armpits are completely invisible. But if you detect any kind of sealing and swelling, it indicates the fact that your lymph nodes are trying to fight emerging infections on their own.
The situation will normalize without external interference after a while.
However, you should see a doctor if the swelling has not gone away on its own within a week.
It can be a worrying sign because swollen lymph nodes are a sign of a serious infection and sometimes even cancer.
1. Excessive Sweating
It is normal to sweat a lot if you are doing intense physical activity, but not if you are sitting, walking, or sleeping. These signs should scare you.
Hyperhidrosis can indicate dysfunction in hormonal levels that can indicate the onset of menopause. Also, excessive sweating is one of the signs of diabetes and gout.
Are there other armpit signs that may indicate various diseases? Tell us about them in the comments!
