Some studies show that drinking red wine every day is good for your health: it helps the body rid itself of toxins and improves the productivity of the brain. Our editor decided to do this experiment to find out how wine influences health.
We want to share with our readers what we have discovered: what will happen to your body if you drink a glass of wine every day!
Day 1.
I am 28 years old and I cannot consider myself a fan of alcohol. About once a week, usually on Friday or Saturday, my friends and I go to the bar or have a party at home. Sometimes I meet someone during the week for a beer.
To do this experiment, I decided to have a glass of wine for dinner at home every day. I chose a good Chilean red wine. Dry red wine, according to some researchers and doctors, has the best effect on people’s health.
Day after day, I was able to notice different changes that occurred in my body and mood. Some changes really surprised me.
I Had Sleeping Problems
I don’t have insomnia and I usually fall asleep very quickly around 11 pm. But around the second or third day of the experiment, I started having trouble sleeping: I would wake up at night and couldn’t sleep.
After spending 10-15 minutes on the phone, I finally managed to sleep. In fact, at the end of the experiment, I started to sleep normally and had no more problems like that. Maybe it was some kind of adjustment?
I think alcohol influenced my sleep cycle – it was easy to fall asleep, but it woke me up during the night.
After The End Of The Experiment, It Was Harder For Me To Concentrate
I tried to notice all the changes that happened in my body. I took my blood pressure every day and I can say this: the alcohol had no effect and the pressure was normal. There were no other problems like shortness of breath or anything.
But something became clear after the end of the experiment. Interestingly, when I stopped drinking wine every night, I was sometimes very sleepy and very tired – it was difficult to concentrate on work. I don’t know what it means, but I hope these symptoms go away soon.
I Had A Guilty Conscience
I had never noticed this before, but during this experience with alcohol, I realized the following: I started to wake up at night thirsty. So, I had to put a glass of water by the bed.
And especially in the early days, I had the feeling that I was doing something wrong, something bad. Maybe it was because I was used to drinking only on weekends with my friends.
On the other hand, I did not have to wait for a special day: every day, I made my mini-Friday with a delicious dinner and a good wine. Then later, I realized that there was no reason to have a heavy conscience: no one made me drink the entire glass and, if I wanted, I did not drink it for one night. I felt better and began to enjoy my nights more.
I Started Seeing People I Really Wanted To See
During the experiment, I had fewer meetings where the goal was to sit down and have a glass of wine with someone. I invited friends over to my house or I just stayed home and didn’t go anywhere.
So, I only met the people I was interested in, someone I was happy to see in my house. Also, I’m an introvert, so I enjoyed staying home a lot more.
I continued to meet friends over the weekend, but I drank wine instead of beer and drank very little.
My Conclusions After The Experiment:
Drinking a glass of good wine every now and then is significantly cheaper than going to bars with friends. For example, you can pay 2 times less for a good bottle of wine than for 2 or 3 glasses of beer in a bar. Plus, the chances of drinking heavily and doing something you regret are much lower – you chill out every night instead of waiting on Fridays.
I didn’t meet people I didn’t want to: I felt so much better because I’m an introvert.
I would like to know more about wines and cheeses: it is a lot of fun learning the differences in taste.
I realized that drinking even a small amount of alcohol every day cannot positively affect your health – I didn’t like trouble sleeping, and I felt tired all the time.
The main conclusion is this: do not drink every day, but do not wait for a special day to relax if you feel exhausted. A good wine in good company and a tasty meal will make your evening that much better. Do not drink too much!
