5 Effective Facial Exercises to Lean Out a Double Chin

As we age, the skin on our face can lose its elasticity. The good thing is that you can use facial exercises to help tone and slim your face. These exercises will also help promote healthy blood flow to your skin cells, which will improve the overall appearance of your face.

We set out to find the moves that can make your face look younger, less stressed, and more toned.

Exercise 1

The target area(s): cheeks and chin

  • Close your mouth.
  • Open it wide to the side, as if you’re trying to show all your teeth.
  • Flex your neck muscles.
  • Repeat for 20 seconds.
  • Repeat 4 times.

Exercise 2

The targeted area(s): the jawline, cheeks, chin, and neck

  • This exercise is best done with your mouth wide open.
  • Try to whistle — it should feel like you’re doing an “O” with your mouth.
  • Do this for 10 seconds.
  • Repeat 4 times.

Exercise 3

The target area(s): the jaw and chin

Place the tip of the tongue on the hard palate on the roof of the mouth, directly behind the upper teeth. Pull the rest of the tongue against the palate.

Close your mouth and breathe normally. The key to this exercise is to do it all the time.

Exercise 4

The targeted area(s): the neck and chin

  • Stretch your neck as much as you can by lowering your head back.
  • Try to cross your lower lip over your top lip while maintaining a steady gaze on the ceiling.
  • Smile wide.
  • Hold the position for 10 seconds.
  • Repeat 4 times.

Exercise 5

The targeted area(s): the forehead, eyelids, cheeks, chin, and neck

  • Try to keep your eyes as wide open as possible.
  • Don’t wrinkle your forehead.
  • Look straight ahead at a spot in front of you for 10 seconds.
  • Repeat 4 times.

How often do you exercise your face? What area of your face would you like to tone up the most?
